My furniture upcycling workshops are relaxed, hands-on sessions designed to show you how to transform dated, unloved furniture into something you’ll actually be proud to have in your home.

Whether you’re a complete beginner who has never picked up a paintbrush, or you’ve already had a go and want to learn how to get better results, I’ll take you through the process without the complicated jargon or making you feel like you’re back at school!

Learn how to upcycle furniture properly

My workshops are about much more than slapping some paint on and hoping for the best. You’ll learn the practical stuff that makes the difference between a finish that looks fabulous and one that has you wondering where it all went wrong.

Depending on the workshop, we’ll cover things like:

• Preparing and cleaning furniture for painting
• When to sand — and when you really don’t need to
• Painting techniques using Fusion Mineral Paint
• Layering colours to create depth
• Creating distressed and rustic finishes
• Stencilling and decorative techniques
• Gilding paint and gold leaf
• Decoupage and other creative finishes
• Choosing the right products and finishes from waxes to top coats and everything in between
• Troubleshooting those inevitable “why has my paint done THAT?” moments!

And because I’m a working furniture upcycler, I’ll share the real-world tips, tricks and lessons I’ve picked up from transforming countless pieces myself — including the things that the online tutorials conveniently forget to mention!

My workshops are deliberately relaxed and friendly. There’s no pressure to create a “perfect” piece and no expectation that you need to be artistic.

You’ll get plenty of guidance, encouragement and hands-on practice, with the chance to experiment with different colours, techniques and finishes.

The aim is that you leave not only with something you’ve created, but with the confidence to look at an old piece of furniture at home and think:

“Yep. I could transform that.”

Have fun transforming a small wooden piece of furniture that you bring along on the day. All paints, brushes, and other materials are included in the cost. Workshops for beginners, furniture lovers & creative souls

I run a range of furniture painting and upcycling workshops in and around Epsom, Surrey, from full-day beginner furniture upcycling days to smaller creative painting evenings.

I also offer private 1-to-1 furniture upcycling tuition, which is ideal if you have a particular piece of furniture you want to transform, or you're ready to take a deep dive into the wondrous world of furniture painting and create an experience bespoke to your requirements.

All workshops are taught by me, Jodi, an experienced furniture upcycler and Fusion Mineral Paint stockist. So you’re learning from someone who actually does this for a living — not just someone who read a tutorial and decided to run a workshop!
