A Nest of Tables to Blend In
This neat set of 3 nesting tables was a commission for a long-time supporter and client of Upcycled & Reloved by Jodi.
With a preference for a neutral palette to fit with her existing furniture and colour scheme, this upcycle was less about creative flair and more about a modern update.
Prep is Always Important
The nest of tables was in a good condition overall, in so far as there was no fixing or filling that needed to be done. But they'd had a long life already, so a solid clean was in order.
I tucked in with my Fusion TSP Alternative to get rid of all the deep-seated dirt and grime that you often can't see. You'd be amazed (or is that shocked?) at what gets ingrained in the wood over the years, even from furniture that to the eye appears to be clean. It's an extremely satisfying process!
Once they were squeaky clean, a good scuff sand* was enough to get them ready for their new paint finish.

Natural Neutrals with a Touch of Shimmer
Fusion Mineral Paint offers a lovely range of neutrals. We chose to paint each table in its own colour that would blend in beautifully to my client's neutral colour palette already established in her home.
Fusion Mineral Paint in Algonquin offers a deep taupe, Cashmere brings a warm cream undertone, and Cathedral Taupe is a great goes-with-anything shade that delights a soft pink undertone. The combination was an ideal choice for this set of 3 nest of tables.
We still wanted a little something of interest to really finish them off and toyed with the idea of a flower design at the edge. I wasn't feeling it though, and neither did my client. In the end, we opted for a crisp, clean line pattern on the top of each table, contrasting her natural curves, and enhanced her petite feet with cute 'ballerina shoes' in the lightest shimmery Fusion Mineral Paint Champagne Metallic. This added touch brought the 3 tables together beautifully as a set, but still allows each to stand as a finished piece independently too.
The result was precisely what my client was looking for and her once-brown nesting tables are now part of her gorgeous range of upcycled and reloved furniture in neutral tones.
